Axie Infinity is Burning the Boats. By shutting down Classic V2 and forcing rewards into bAXS, Sky Mavis is telling its community: Stake your future on our new MMO or exit now. my biggest concern is the June 24th Shutdown; if the new game doesn't capture the audience by then, the Legacy value of Axie assets could evaporate. you can read more on the june 24th shutdown: https://coinmarketcap.com/cmc-ai/axie-infinity/latest-updates/ by the way im not really comfortable how the token moved from $160+ down to where we are now. for me its a no no for now till will see if the new game works

If a building relies entirely on temporary scaffolding to stand, it will inevitably collapse the moment that scaffolding is removed. Retail sees Axie Infinity ($AXS) trading at $1.24 and assumes it is a generational discount on a blue-chip gaming giant. It is an absolute trap. The 2021 Axie Infinity economy was built entirely on the temporary scaffolding of hyper-growth. The Play-to-Earn dual-token model required a constant influx of new users bringing fresh capital to pay the $SLP yields of existing players. When user growth saturated, $SLP hyper-inflated into oblivion. Because $AXS was required to breed new NFTs, the death of $SLP instantly destroyed the core utility and demand for $AXS. Furthermore, a structure is only as strong as its foundation. In 2022, the Ronin bridge was exploited for $620 Million coinmarketcap.com/alexandria/article/the-ronin-bridge-hack-explained. While Sky Mavis commendably patched the breach, institutional capital fled the ecosystem and never returned. Since then, massive VC and team token unlocks have continuously flooded the order books, diluting retail spot holders. When managing a tight student budget, allocating capital into a collapsed economic model is a guaranteed way to lose your funds.

Down from 164 to well under one cent, it became a retail trap. During the peak hype, many people tried to play Axie as a play to earn game. The SLP token dumped even harder and hurt anyone who bought it at the wrong time. Some users even hired players and invested in in game characters to farm SLP. In the end, the model was not sustainable and it collapsed. Very little lasting value was created, and the ecosystem lost momentum. AXS can still see short term pumps, but I do not expect it to revisit its all time high. Over the long run, it looks like a slow bleed toward irrelevance.

Ah, the early days of NFTs... Axie was all the rage, and for many people in Southeast Asia, it was their monthly income. Good innovation; pretty much launched the play-to-earn model off the ground. Still holding decently.
