Harvest's October 2020 exploit is still the most important security event in its history. An attacker manipulated the value of USDC and USDT in Curve's Y Pool using a flash-loan strategy, then used those distorted prices to enter Harvest vaults cheaply and withdraw at a better valuation. Harvest itself described it as an engineering error, with roughly $24M affected.
The protocol has added safeguards since then, but users still aren't dealing with isolated Harvest contracts. Harvest strategies actively move user funds through third-party protocols such as Curve, Uniswap, Compound and Aave, so an exploit, oracle failure or liquidity problem in an underlying protocol can flow directly into Harvest vaults. Harvest explicitly acknowledges this composability risk in its own documentation.
There is also still a meaningful privileged-strategy dependency. Vault strategy changes have a 12-hour timelock, giving users time to react, but the deployer ultimately decides whether an announced strategy is accepted or rejected. Harvest's own audit history also notes that a privileged deployer role was previously identified as an issue.
Another thing I wouldn't ignore is the project's development transparency. Harvest openly says it doesn't maintain a detailed roadmap, choosing to adapt as DeFi changes. That's reasonable for an experimental protocol, but it makes it harder for users to judge what is actually being built and where the protocol is going.

Unlike many tokens that overflow their ecosystem with billion of circulating coins, FARM has a microscopic total circulating supply of 672,000 tokens, but somehow it still losing value. It's not a some new project it been active in crypto ecosystem since 2020 which tells project is seriously building and expanding ecosystem in crypto market, but the market cap is relatively low compared to other crypto projects with same niche. The trading volume is thin and liquidity is very low: https://www.geckoterminal.com/eth/pools/0x56feaccb7f750b997b36a68625c7c596f0b41a58 In October 2020, harvest Finance suffered a $24 million flash loan exploit where an attacker manipulated the platform's price curves to drain its vaults, even after that harvest upgraded security but that hack left a crack in project's reputation. Harvest Finance has been completely abandoned by its creators and the broader market alike. A token cannot survive when its engineers walk away from the codebase for over three years, and its final breath was taken when Binance officially delisted them this past week. The 30% yield sharing mechanics are meaningless if the underlying software is static, exposed, and locked out of major global markets. Do not buy the dip, do not attempt to farm the remaining vaults, and remove this asset entirely from your radar. Harvest Finance is the perfect example of why audits do not guarantee safety. The tokenomics are exactly what we look for since basically the entire supply of 690420 tokens is already unlocked. You will not get dumped on by early investors. But the underlying smart contract architecture was historically broken. Back in 2020 someone used a flash loan to manipulate their price oracle and walked away with 24 million dollars. So realistically speaking, I cannot trust a system that allowed its vaults to be emptied so easily. And I won't let the small supply trick me into holding a compromised asset.

Harvest Finance was one of the early DeFi yield aggregators that became popular during the 2020 DeFi summer by automatically compounding farming rewards across protocols. Back then it was genuinely innovative because it simplified yield farming for regular users, but today the sector is far more crowded and Harvest no longer feels unique compared to competitors like Yearn or Beefy. Security-wise, Harvest still carries baggage from the major 2020 flash loan exploit where attackers drained over $20M from the protocol. The project survived, but that exploit heavily damaged its reputation and many DeFi users never fully trusted it again. The team has mostly remained anonymous which was common during DeFi summer but now feels less reassuring compared to newer public teams. Older users respect Harvest as one of the OG DeFi platforms, but many also see it as a legacy protocol that never fully recovered after the exploit. Exploit Case Study: https://crystalintelligence.com/investigations/defi-hacks-case-study-harvest-finance-protocol/ Tokenomics are actually cleaner than many modern DeFi projects because almost the entire FARM supply is already circulating, meaning dilution risk is relatively low now. But demand and ecosystem growth also seem weak as of today compared to newer narratives.

Harvest keeps surprising with consistent APYs that hold up against newer competitors real compounding power without the usual rug risks. Solid pick if you want sleep-easy farming. The only drag is how sleepy the whole scene around it is now no real chatter or growth vibes. Still edges positive as a dependable old-timer. 23 web pages
