Merlin Chain is a speed booster for Bitcoin. in reality, It works well, but it was overhyped. butthe coin has lost almost all its value (97% down) because millions of new coins are being given to partners who then sell them. Also, people keep confusing it with a different project called Merlin Labs that got hacked, which makes everyone nervous. It’s a ghost of its former self, waiting for a miracle. Another classic low float, high FDV launch that arrived right at the peak of the Layer 2 hype cycle. Merlin gained traction rapidly, pulling in massive TVL and a wave of ecosystem dApps as the Bitcoin DeFi narrative played out perfectly in its favor. While 20% of the supply was allocated to airdrops, the circulating supply at TGE remained relatively low compared to its fully diluted valuation, creating the usual imbalance. Technically, it’s ambitious, a Bitcoin Layer 2 combining ZK rollups, EVM compatibility, and on chain fraud proofs, but that also makes it a highly complex and still largely experimental stack. During their "Merlin's Seal" launch campaign, they attracted billions in Total Value Locked. However, that capital was unconsolidated soil which means mercenary yield farmers hunting the airdrop. The moment the rewards were distributed, the capital fled, leaving the retail spot chart to collapse. The tokenomics represent a permanent, crushing "dead load" on the price. Out of a 2.1 Billion maximum supply, over 1.16 Billion tokens are currently circulating. The protocol executes aggressive unlocks every single month, flooding the market with tens of millions of new tokens to pay off early seed investors like The Spartan Group and OKX Ventures. You need to recognize that a massive TVL metric is meaningless if the supply inflation mathematically guarantees a bleed-out. You aren't buying a blue-chip L2; you are buying the exhaust of a VC unlock schedule.
