The biggest risk is that HTX remains a centralized exchange ecosystem, so users ultimately depend on the exchange maintaining solvency, withdrawal access and operational integrity. HTX publishes Merkle-tree Proof of Reserves and reported major assets above 100% backing in June 2026, but PoR is evidence of disclosed reserves at a point in time not proof that the entire exchange is free of liabilities, counterparty exposure or other balance-sheet risks.
The HTX token also has unusually heavy dependence on the exchange itself. Its value proposition is tied to HTX DAO governance, ecosystem utility and the exchange's continued activity. The DAO does conduct substantial burns: its official burn history records 13.62T HTX burned on January 14, 2026, 10.83T in April, and 7.47T in July. But burning tokens does not automatically create sustainable value if exchange activity or genuine token demand weakens.
There is also a governance and concentration risk. HTX DAO controls proposals involving token burns, governance committees and ecosystem decisions, meaning token holders are exposed to how that governance structure operates rather than owning a claim on a decentralized protocol's cash flows. The DAO's own proposal system shows an elected governance committee handling protocol decisions.
The old HT → HTX transition adds another layer of risk for legacy holders. Anyone still holding the deprecated HT token faces a fundamentally different liquidity and utility profile from the current HTX ecosystem. That makes migration history relevant when assessing long-term holder protection.

Avoiding dead capital is just as important as finding the next massive runner. Huobi Token (HT) looks like an absolute steal to the uneducated eye—down over 99% from its $39.66 all-time high to $0.17. Retail traders see this and assume they are buying a legacy tier-1 exchange token at the absolute bottom. They are wrong. You aren't buying a dip; you are buying an expired receipt. The exchange migrated to a new token, completely stripping this old HT contract of its utility, staking benefits, and fee discounts. When you are stretching every finite cent to build a viable portfolio, throwing money at an $11k volume ghost-town because it "looks cheap" is a critical unforced error. Do not touch this. Always check for token migrations before buying the dip on legacy crypto brands.

people used to hold HT for Huobi exchange exclusive discounts and perks. when Justin Sun bought the exchange after a while he changed the rules. (yes people converted their HT with 1:1000000 ratio) but there was people who couldn't also. now the exchange only offers small (25% discount for HTX (htx dao token) and TRX (Tron) token holders. that's it. apart from it no big perks.
