Layer3 is honestly one of the worst quest platforms I have ever interacted with. Minting a single CUBE often costs around $0.2 to $0.3, which is ridiculously high for what is basically a gamified task system. It feels more like you are constantly paying to participate in their engagement loop. Most of these CUBEs were supposedly tied to $L3 airdrop eligibility, where users were pushed into endless grinding through quests, daily check ins, bridges, swaps and maintaining activity just to stay “eligible.” Even the qualification criteria like collecting 100+ CUBEs feels more like artificial farming pressure than meaningful participation. In the end, it comes off as a pay to play grind system. They have allocated 51% to the community but have only distributed 7.5% as initial airdrops after effectively milking users through high minting fees. They also raised over $25M from VCs, which is quite high for a platform like this, in my opinion. According to CertiK Scan, the token also shows centralization warnings, with a major holder ratio of 92.42%, excluding exchange holdings and locked addresses. https://skynet.certik.com/tools/token-scan/eth/0x88909D489678dD17aA6D9609F89B0419Bf78FD9a

This is the biggest smoking gun. The official layer3xyz GitHub has seen zero commits in the past three months and only 85 stars. For a protocol and infrastructure layer, that’s a catastrophic signal. The so-called product seems to be running on fumes or sheer inertia. Layer3 claims to monetize the trillion-dollar attention economy via omnichain identity and quests. But even Vitalik Buterin publicly questioned whether repeated quest stacking or Layer 3s actually scale anything meaningful. The white paper exists but is more marketing theory than a tangible engineering roadmap

Another project which is rather unnecessary, it had a bit of hype during the 'Airdrop Mania' of 2024, but with it's high supply drop at TGE, most users felt bitter about how much effort and cube minting fees they invested for such little return. Further supply unlocks will lead to continuing decline in price, and the main usecase is for advertisers/projects wanting to run campaigns on their website. With the Airdrop craze over, I can't see much positivity for $L3 in the future.
