GMT is the core currency for a smartphone digital fitness game where user buy virtual sneakers to walk or run for crypto rewards, the project was built to reward users who did real life exercise, users spend cryptocurrency to buy a virtual digital shoe an NFT sneaker inside the STEPN mobile app then they go outside, turn on their phone's GPS, and walk, jog, or run the app tracks their movement and pays them back in crypto, the GMT token is the elite coin used to upgrade these virtual shoes to maximum level, unlock special perks, and vote on game changes.
To earn rewards it's mandatory to buy sneaker nft from the app without nft there are no rewards even used can't activate app earning feature this forced mechanism is preventing new users to participate and use app limiting it's approach only to few people who actually buy and upgrade sneaker nft so it means upgrading gives more reward than a ordinary bought nft.
Also users immediately sell tokens given as reward because outside of app and project token has no real use case the selling pressure has pushed price from $4 to $0.007 which is 99% down from it's orignal price.
So while project is highly active but buying nft and then upgrading it doesn't pays lot of tokens, also some users only earn fraction of token by doing lot of exercise it's not a good coin for investment but a fun app's backbone token.
The gamefi hype is also dead and narratives of crypto community are heavily shifted to Ai and Defi so GMT is struggling to maintain its user base and price against the dead hype.

GMT is the coin used in the famous STEPN "walk-to-earn" app. They have huge partners like Adidas and a professional team that has survived the worst of the crypto winter. but one of the problem here is that there are billions of new coins that haven't been released yet. and every month, more coins (rewards) hit the market, which keeps the price from going up. Unless their new games (like Gas Hero) become massive hits, the price will likely stay low because of the constant flood of new coins. other than that the idea is pretty atleast you can earn some token well u walk and still keep ur self fit.. its a win win
