CESS Network (CESS) Review: OG Score & Community Audit

Unlike Filecoin, which is primarily built for cold data archiving, CESS (Cumulus Encrypted Storage System) is built for "hot" data. Using their own Content Decentralized Delivery Network (CD²N), they can retrieve data in milliseconds, making it viable for dynamic Web3 applications, NFTs, and real-time AI training.
However, you absolutely must respect the tokenomics risk here. There is a hard cap of 10 billion CESS tokens, but only about 2.65 billion are currently in circulation. This means roughly 73% of the supply is still waiting to hit the market through miner rewards and ecosystem incentives. The token is down nearly 90% from its 2025 all-time high of $0.019. If you are buying this asset, you are betting that the organic demand for decentralized enterprise cloud storage will outpace the massive, ongoing supply inflation.

CESS is not difficult to verify, the public GitHub already shows dozens of repositories covering both the blockchain and storage network, and the documentation explains how proof based storage verification, slashing and redundancy are built into the protocol instead of depending on trust. check GitHub. Documentation, what keeps me from getting too comfortable is the token distribution, the maximum supply is 10 billion CESS, with 65% reserved for node incentives, the published tokenomics also show that around 1.018 billion CESS is expected to reach node operators during the first year, that's a lot of new supply for the network to absorb unless real usage grows alongside it. The other number I keep coming back to is 11, that's how many validators participate in each consensus cycle, if too much influence stays with a small validator set, decentralization becomes harder to judge than the total node count suggests, I'd rather see stronger onchain demand and a broader validator base before treating the token as a long term position.

The biggest problem I see here is the locked supply vs circulating supply out of 10 billion only 2.65 billion are in circulation and price has been trading near it's all time low, it's similar project to file coin and Storj which are decentralized cloud storage platforms but difference is CESS network mainly focused on Ai niche.
The token was also listed on Binance alpha which helped it gain reach to wider community and regular traders, it's available on decent exchanges including gate Io , bitget and kucoin.
The different pools has extremely low Liquidity which means major trading volume is coming from centralized exchanges, while trading volume is also very small compared to it's market cap and FDV is noticeably higher which can create future value dilution.
The twitter is active but it's been second week since last post on July 31 they should keep community updated regarding development and roadmap.

Cess combines decentralized storage with CDN delivery, data verification, privacy technology and AI-oriented data infrastructure. Its token also has genuine economic functions users pay for storage and bandwidth in Cess, node operators must stake Cess, Cess is used for gas, and the project says a portion of transaction fees and node penalties are burned. That is a green flag and aomealmost everyone will run into without second thought because you know the liquidity will be at least busy and increasing. 
The kickbacks though is execution timing and supply. They already completed their TGE in June 2025, yet, however, It has a 10B maximum supply but only 2.65B circulating, and the project's own current Earn page says approximately 1.018B CESS will be distributed to node providers during the first year, with subsequent emissions halving every four years. That means the network needs substantial economic demand to absorb its emissions. A burn mechanism helps, but without a published cumulative burn figure, we cannot yet establish that burns are large enough to counteract emissions. That means today's token market is effectively pricing the project's future infrastructure rather than a mature production network. One will need to watch out for when they will start flooding the market to be sure on the save side for real💯. 

CESS looks like a real project, but the token still has some obvious risks. Only about 2.65B of the 10B CESS supply is circulating, so roughly 73.5% remains locked or outside the market. With the market cap sitting around $3.5–4M while the FDV is closer to $15M, there's still a sizeable supply overhang hanging over holders as more tokens enter circulation.
Liquidity isn't great either. Daily volume is generally under $300K, which is pretty thin for a storage network trying to attract enterprise and AI workloads. Large sells can move the price quickly, and most of the trading is concentrated on mid-tier exchanges rather than deep global markets.
The network itself is fairly demanding to participate in. Consensus validators need around 3M CESS staked, storage providers need 2,000 CESS per TiB, and unstaking takes roughly 28 days. That setup helps secure the network, but it also creates high barriers to entry and could leave validation concentrated among larger operators rather than a broad set of independent participants.

CESS is a project with a surprisingly large community of over 55,000 people, but the current trading data shows that most of these holders are inactive. The million-dollar liquidity pool is a very positive sign, as it prevents the project from being easily manipulated or collapsing under small sales. However, seeing a multi-million dollar market cap move only $25,000 in a day suggests that the project is currently lacking hype or real-world utility usage. $CESS is praised for its deep liquidity and wide holder distribution. It is an infrastructure project that is currently in a boring phase. The biggest danger for an investor is the 74% of unreleased tokens that could keep the price suppressed for a long time. Massive centralization warnings make CESS feel like a database with a high-end marketing budget. Harvard founders and Web3 Foundation nods usually buy my interest, but the project is tripping over its own feet. Between the basement-level trust scores and heavy day-one unlocks, the stench of a dump is stronger than the tech.
