NEAR Protocol (NEAR) Review: OG Score & Community Audit

Near is seriously building and developing and it's strongly following Ai niche and recently leaned heavily in Ai agents there are many apps built on near chain which run on multiple block chains seamlessly, the 70% gas fees are burned permanently and 100 % fees from feature like near intent are used to buyback near token from market and these token are not burned instead they get removed from liquidity pools and staked or locked back means team is seriously taking token's value to maintain long term value of near token.
Even after a strong tech and continues development price has fallen very sharply and it stays almost unaffected by bullish market or crypto hype, the chain abstraction narrative that NEAR has leaned on heavily is no longer unique to NEAR many other block chains and projects have learned this technology and giving heavy competition.
 

NEAR is executing flawlessly. Recently this year, they officially launched dynamic resharding, allowing the network to elastically scale up and down based on demand. They have fully functional Chain Abstraction; a single NEAR wallet can natively sign transactions on Bitcoin and Ethereum without needing a bridge. They are heavily positioning this tech as the backbone for User-Owned AI agents, drawing enough institutional interest that Bitwise filed for a spot ETF in late 2025.
However, NEAR is down roughly 92% from its $20.44 all-time high. While the team recently cut the token's inflation rate in half, there are still roughly 1.3 billion tokens in circulation. The technology is top-tier, but buyers must understand they are fighting against years of heavy historical supply dilution. but hopefully there will be a bounce back when the bulls are taking over the open market

My best part of this ecosystem its the Nightshade sharding system, UX-focused account model, and growing shift toward AI-native infrastructure. It is clearly built for mass adoption with usability in mind, not just developer experimentation. Despite all this though, NEAR still struggles to consistently convert its technical advantages into dominant ecosystem adoption. The biggest long-term opportunity is its AI chain abstraction narrative, which could reposition NEAR as a key infrastructure layer if executed well. The biggest risk is competition from Ethereum and Solana absorbing developer and liquidity attention faster than NEAR can scale adoption.

I’m not here to cheerlead or deny NEAR’s capabilities tech as it’s live and active. But the real current unresolved issue governance controversy over overriding a failed vote puts credibility risk front and center. That debate matters far more than anything to me personally, which are annoying but not foundational. I believe NEAR can still succeed if it brings in stronger operations and community leadership. Too many of the same long standing figures have remained in place for years, even after some cleanup. Who is going to take real responsibility and drive change, Illia or Alex? The current governance setup feels performative, and I do not see enough accountability. They should stop paying high monthly retainers to advisers who are not delivering measurable progress. I am interested in buying in the $0.10 to $0.20 range.

NEAR was built to make Blockchain faster and easier to use, especially for developers . The technology is solid and user friendly, which gives it a real chance to grow, However the Blockchain space is crowded and good tech alone is not enough. Its future depends on whether strong apps and real users continue to choose NEAR over other chains.

NEAR really nails the basics fast finality, low fees, Nightshade sharding, and wallets that are easy to understand make it super userfriendly, Chain Abstraction and Chain Signatures are great, especially with AI and apps that work across chains, and developers are definitely drawn to them, the tech and tokenomics are good, but the community and how many people use it still need to grow more. But don’t worry, if they keep doing a good job, NEAR has a great foundation to become even better over time.

NEAR pushes chain abstraction, users don’t need to think about wallets or chains, everything feels smooth like a normal app. It has strong funding, an active community, and real partnerships in gaming, AI, and creator tools, which keeps the ecosystem growing.

NEAR really impressed me with Chain Signatures and the way it’s bringing AI into the mix to make cross-chain apps faster and easier to build. I can see why developers would be drawn to that, though I’m still not sure if it’s enough to stand out in such a crowded space, but if it actually delivers, NEAR could have a real edge.

Good tokenomics. The community is asking for an inflation reduction too. Near has strong ties with many projects. The only thing lacking on Near is imo community support (still). They have been working with incapable and introvert "community builders"
