Linea, the zkEVM Layer 2 built by ConsenSys, dropped billions of $LINEA tokens to over 750,000 wallets. The airdrop was based on Linea Experience Points (LXP) from stuff like the Voyage and Surge campaigns, plus liquidity providing. You needed at least 2,000 LXP to even qualify. I still remember my friends grinding hard on the Voyage testnet campaign. It wasn’t easy at all. Some even bought testnet ETH just to make transactions, so it actually cost them real money in the end. At launch, regular users had to wait forever to claim their tokens, while Binance Alpha folks got in early and started dumping right away just like every othertimes. The token’s utility right now feels pretty basic, mostly just for governance and not much else exciting. From an investing angle, Linea has the lowest MC/FDV ratio among the big L2 tokens. It looks like the “cheapest” one on a fully diluted basis, but that also means it has the biggest supply overhang. Only about 38% of the total supply is circulating, so future unlocks are gonna keep putting pressure on the price unless real usage and TVL pick up. On-chain liquidity is also pretty thin compared to its market cap, which is something you don’t want to see from a project with such serious backing.

I prefer Arbitrum and Optimism instead Linea as they are much better in many terms including fee and value, Arbitrum is good option for investment than linea

Linea’s mask slipped in June 2024. By freezing the entire chain to stop the Velocore exploiter, they proved the centralized kill switch is alive and well. It was a classic training wheels moment that makes their decentralization roadmap look like pure fantasy, even with their other technical updates.

Linea farmed people for years, in the end most people got crumbs. Nothing awesome about the tech, just another very unnecessary Layer 2 (zk rollup) built on Ethereum. And not to mention it's centralized due to master keys
