Big VCs like Sequoia usually mean a smooth ride, but I think Scroll fumbled the goodwill bag. The tech feels like a solid zkSync rival, yet the community is hostile. We watched them feed Binance whales and starve real users. Sure, the chain holds up, but who cares when insiders hold the cards? Vibe is dead: https://www.coinspeaker.com/scroll-founder-wallets-1m-marks-scr-token-airdrop/#:~:text=As%20Coinspeaker%20previously%20explained%2C%20the,and%20the%20Scroll%20Foundation%20respectively

Scroll raised $80M from VCs at a $1.8B valuation but honestly the token execution has been one of the worst among L2s since Arbitrum. They really pushed users to grind those Marks campaigns and collect badges, but that whole thing got diluted once whales showed up. Badges basically became useless after they announced the airdrop. A lot of people who put in real effort and stacked badges still ended up not even being eligible, which feels pretty rough. On top of that, they gave over 5% of the supply to Binance Launchpool while the airdrop was only 7%. The tokenomics just feel very VC friendly. Around 50% is going to contributors, team and investors while only 15% is meant for the community and just 7% actually went out at TGE.

I keep circling back to this one because it just... works. No drama, no crashes just steady growth, buzzing community, and updates that actually land on time, all without the usual shill circus. Security feels bulletproof. Zero red flags there. Token’s still kinda basic, mostly governance for now. But the whole vibe? Quiet confidence. Real builder energy.

Of course they have really solid technology, but not many people are actually using it yet. When it first launched, the amount of money locked on the platform was small, and most of the activity came from people chasing rewards or giveaways, not from people actually building or using apps. That’s a wash sign if you’re thinking about whether it’ll grow and stay strong in the long run, team might step up tho so keep an eye out.

Scroll is another Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution, focusing on zero-knowledge rollups. I think Its adoption will be determined by how well it can reduce gas fees.

About Scroll

Scroll (SCR) is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum, designed to tackle the network's scalability challenges while maintaining its core security and decentralization attributes. By employing zero-knowledge rollup (zk-rollup) technology, Scroll aims to provide a seamless, scalable and secure environment for Ethereum transactions and smart contracts. This approach ensures that transactions are processed off-chain and then batched into a single proof which is verified and settled on the Ethereum mainnet, significantly reducing costs and increasing throughput.

At its heart, Scroll's mission is to scale Ethereum to support billions of users by offering a network that is not just scalable but also EVM-equivalent. This means that developers can deploy their existing Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible smart contracts onto Scroll without any need for code modifications, thereby preserving the developer experience that Ethereum is known for. Scroll's infrastructure includes:

Scroll Node: This component constructs Layer 2 blocks, commits them to the Ethereum base layer and handles message passing between Layer 1 and Layer 2, ensuring efficient transaction processing.

Scroll Prover: It generates zero-knowledge proofs to verify that transactions processed off-chain comply with Ethereum's rules, providing a layer of security that is intrinsic to Ethereum.

Scroll Bridge: Facilitates token transfers between Ethereum and Scroll, ensuring interoperability and liquidity.

Founders and Backers:

Scroll was founded by a team with deep roots in both technology and blockchain. The co-founders include Sandy Peng, Ye Zhang and Haichen Shen, who have collectively worked on various high-profile blockchain projects before founding Scroll. Their vision is to build a scalable, secure and developer-friendly environment for Ethereum dApps.

The project has garnered significant attention from the investment community, with notable backers including:

Polychain Capital - A venture capital firm focused on blockchain technology.

Bain Capital Crypto - An investment entity exploring opportunities in cryptocurrency markets.

Robot Ventures - An investment firm with a focus on tech startups.

These investors reflect confidence in Scroll's technical approach and its potential to play a pivotal role in Ethereum's scaling solutions.

Use Cases:

Decentralized Finance (DeFi): Scroll's low transaction fees and high throughput make it ideal for DeFi applications that would otherwise be bogged down by Ethereum's gas costs, enhancing user experience and accessibility.

Gaming: With the ability to handle numerous microtransactions efficiently, Scroll can support complex, interactive and low-cost gaming environments on the blockchain.

Enterprise Solutions: For businesses looking to leverage blockchain for data integrity or supply chain management, Scroll provides a cost-effective and scalable platform without sacrificing Ethereum's security.

NFTs and Digital Collectibles: Scroll can accelerate the minting and trading of NFTs by reducing the cost per transaction, making digital art and collectibles more accessible.

Cross-chain Interoperability: Through its bridge technology, Scroll facilitates interaction with other blockchains, enhancing the functionality of multi-chain projects.
