Orca can process billions in trading volume without creating the same level of demand for ORCA ,most users come to the platform for better swap prices and liquidity, not because they need to hold the token.                                                ​​​​That means protocol growth and token performance do not always move together, most of the trading activity comes from the Solana ecosystem, so Orca's growth is still closely tied to Solana's overall activity. Orca is a major part of the Solana ecosystem It holds hundreds of millions of dollars in total deposits TVL and is consistently ranked as a top 3 exchange on the network, major Solana tools like Jupiter automatically route millions of dollars of trading traffic straight through Orca every single day keeping the platform busy and keeping trading volume high.
If anyone bought token few years ago the total portfolio on Orca is now totally crushed after price fell from peak $20 dollar, early buyers faced most of the loss so while platform is highly used in Solana ecosystem the token itself is complete financial disappointment, it's only used for voting in project governance so besides this there is no strong utility tied to orca token. 

Orca isn't facing the usual low-volume or unlock risks seen in many small-cap tokens. The bigger concern is that ORCA's value capture remains weak despite the protocol processing billions in swap volume. Most fees generated on the platform flow to liquidity providers rather than directly benefiting token holders, leaving ORCA heavily dependent on governance value and market sentiment. Competition from larger Solana DEXs like Raydium remains intense, making long-term user retention and fee growth a constant challenge.

If an investor looked only at price performance, they would see a token that collapsed roughly 95% from its all-time high and assume failure which is right by every investor, because price maintenance is a high peak of value in this industry. It's no doubt that Orca still operates as one of Solana's most important DEX infrastructures, generates real trading fees, maintains treasury and continues shipping meaningful upgrades years after launch. 
The reason ORCA struggled was token economics. For years, holders had limited direct value capture. The launch of xORCA and fee-linked buybacks was effectively an admission that governance alone was not enough to sustain investor demand. That change significantly improves the long-term investment case. DEX competition remains brutal and governance tokens historically trade at discounts to the value they help create, you can't attract no investors without been able to carry price movement along and make your community wants you more not use and pass.

ORCA thrives when the Solana meme ecosystem is hot, but it's heavy buybacks haven't translated into stable price action. Recent momentum is just part of a larger relief run in the larger market. $Orca might not rug, but don't expect an impressive pump.

So I did check again as of early 2026, 30% of protocol fees are allocated to these buybacks, which directly reduces circulating supply. Despite these massive efforts, the token remains down significantly from its historical highs. they haven't been enough to spark a new bull run against stiff competition.

they collect good amount of fees from revenue collected. (around 420K per day as of 12th of Sept 2025) this is due to high memecoin trading on Solana Ecosystem but the token is still suffering, another example of value not going back to the holders but the team. they can do better!
